How it works

Read the alarm code, check supply voltages and earths, inspect condenser and evaporator visually. Electrical faults get repaired from portable stock; refrigerant leaks are traced with an electronic detector and recharged with exactly the gas and charge stated on the unit plate, leaving a temperature log for the receiver.

Blow the condenser clean with compressed air weekly in hot weather and check the unit's belt tensioner: a dirty condenser spikes pressures and kills expensive compressors.

Most often it's the hard shoulder between exits 5 and 6, the N-II junction or inside the estate itself. If you can roll to a safe lay-by, say so on the call: that always beats the shoulder.
