Reefer and cooling units
When the fridge stops with meat, fish or pharmaceuticals inside, the clock is running against you. We handle unit start failures, belts and pulleys, temperature sensors, pressure switches and gas loss, plus Thermo King and Carrier Transicold alarm codes. These jobs go to the front of the queue, because the load does not wait.
When a refrigeration unit fails it is not just a truck that stops: it is an entire load. Most thermal breakdowns on the road are electrical (connectors, blower motors, auxiliary batteries) or refrigerant-side (slow leaks in stone-pelted condensers), and both families allow a good share of roadside repair.
Before opening anything, read the unit display: Carrier and Thermo King alarm codes say a lot (low voltage, high discharge pressure, start failure). With the code in hand the intervention narrows and saves half an hour of blind testing.
What never to do
- Do not open the box to check the load
- Do not reset the unit repeatedly — it wipes the fault history
- Do not wait until the cold chain is already broken to call
- Temperature alarm. The display reports deviation from setpoint: act before the load climbs out of chain.
How it works
Read the alarm code, check supply voltages and earths, inspect condenser and evaporator visually. Electrical faults get repaired from portable stock; refrigerant leaks are traced with an electronic detector and recharged with exactly the gas and charge stated on the unit plate, leaving a temperature log for the receiver.
- 1Read the alarm
Display code plus the unit's stored temperature log.
- 2Electrical circuit first
Voltages, connectors and blowers: some 70% of stoppages.
- 3Refrigerant circuit
Electronic leak trace, repair, recharge to plate specification.
- 4Temperature report
Deliverable log proving the cold chain held.
Service
24 h reefer callout. Diagnosis + electrical or leak repair + temperature report.
Blow the condenser clean with compressed air weekly in hot weather and check the unit's belt tensioner: a dirty condenser spikes pressures and kills expensive compressors.
AP-7 · Granollers
Half-way along the corridor, this stretch merges the flows coming off the border with those climbing from Barcelona: braking, overtaking and lane changes without pause.
Granollers and Vallès Oriental access. Dense logistics zone, heavy industrial warehousing. Dangerous curve at km 84.
